Gemma Arterton starring in Alien prequels?
Is meeting with Ridley Scott to discuss role
Gemma Arterton could be taking up the hallowed position once occupied by Sigourney Weaver in Ridley Scott’s Alien prequels as the franchise’s new female action warrior.
While talking up Tamara Drewe with The Times , Arterton revealed that she’s planning on meeting with Scott about the grisly prequels – which Scott yesterday assured us would be “really nasty” .
Arterton reportedly caught the Gladiator director’s eye with her ball-busting performance in indie flick The Disappearance Of Alice Creed , and he requested a meeting with her.
“Ridley Scott saw Alice Creed and loved it,” Arterton says. “He wants me to meet for Aliens: The Remake , or something.”
Sure she’s off the mark with the remake comment, but it’s interesting to see where this project is going. Arterton may have given herself over to some decidedly budget-heavy dreck ( Clash Of The Titans, Prince Of Persia ), but she can handle herself in an action scene and knows how to reign it in.
