Gerard Butler drops out of Point Break remake
Creative differences and a scheduling conflict cited
Alcon's Point Break remake has suffered a major blow, with THR reporting that leading man Gerard Butler has dropped out of the project.
Butler had been in place to star as Bodhi, the extreme sports fanatic turned bank robber played by Patrick Swayze in the original, but has now vacated the role.
The report cites those dreaded "creative differences" as one reason for Butler's decision, while a potential scheduling clash with the newly-announced London Has Fallen is also thought to be a factor.
Luke Bracey remains in place as undercover FBI agent Johnny Utah, with THR suggesting that Alcon is intent to recast Butler's role quickly in order to stick to its original schedule.
Directed by Ericson Core from a script by Kurt Wimmer, Point Break is expected to arrive in 2015, with a specific release date yet to be confirmed.
