Gerard Butler Escapes New York for real
And Brett Ratner is out of the remake too…
It was supposed to be Gerard Butler’s starring role after 300 gave his career a huge shot in the arm – soon after the Spartan party came out, he signed up to fill Kurt Russell’s iconic eye patch as Snake Plissken in a remake of Escape From New York.
But now he’s jumped ship, citing creative differences. We did wonder if it had something to do with Brett Ratner taking on the director’s job, but word has just arrived that Ratner is also off.
So what’s the latest with Escape? Variety reports that New Line has drafted in Terminator 3’s Jonathan Mostow to re-work the script with an option to direct if he feels like it.
Will the remake get back in the swing of things? Perhaps it’s a sign from the movie gods that this is a bad idea…
