God of War II shots hammer home

We've got a new handful of shots of God of War II, this time giving you a glimpse of Kratos' first big demonic opposition, the Barbarian King, brought back to life by Hades to pound you into smithereens.

Fans of the series might remember the King from a previous cinematic in God of War, when he had his head unceremoniously removed. Now he's out for revenge, and he's brought all his undead soldiers with him to grind Kratos into paste. We'verun shots of the King before, but now we know why he's so big - once Kratos re-executes his troops, he absorbs their souls to bulk up (as you do).

Hit the Images tab for hot psychopath-on-barbarian action, plus a few gruesome close-ups of our favorite warrior-god separating another poor soul's noggin from his shoulders. So while the game won't be out until next year, at least these remind us of what we've got to look forward to.
