God of War II strategy guide
We walk you through the PS2's last great epic, one step at a time
There's more platforming ahead now. Jump onto the middle platform and fight the enemies that appear (this is a great place to use Euryale's head), before cranking the platform upwards, and jumping across the remainder of the cogs.
Now it's a straight dash up the wall. Get to the side of the loose rock before you cut it down, or it'll hit you and drain health. Grapple round the next part, and you'll eventually arrive on a ledge with two rocks and a wall that's two high to climb. Pull one rock to the top of the mini-slope, then pull the other underneath it. Now push the top one, onto the lower rock, and you'll have a stack of two rocks. Drag it to the ledge, jump up, and pull it towards the high wall. You can now use it to get over the wall. Before you proceed, you'll see a climbable wall on the rock face to your left. Jump onto it, move round it, and you'll find a chest with a Gorgon eye. Now carry on the way you were heading and you'll get to yet another climbable wall.
Puzzle focus
This requires patience more than skill. Rocks fall alternately down either side of the wall, so here's how you time your ascent. Jump up once, then jump across, then up, then across etc. You can negotiate the whole section using this technique, but if you try and do it quickly, you'll lose health. At the top, smash up the loose chain and watch the cutscene. There is a Quicktime sequence here, so don't put down the pad! You'll also receive the Atlas Quake magic, and be given a chance to test it.
XXXIV. The Palace of the Fates
Save your game, the jump across to the Palace of the Fates. Pull the lever under the bridge and you'll be attacked by three Cyclopes and riders, as well as respawning archers. It's a tough fight, so use your magic if you need to. Now pull the lever on the right as far across as possible and keep doing this until an opening appears at the main entrance.
Puzzle focus
You're now in a chamber with holes in the floor. Hmmm. First of all, head right and get the red orbs, but unless you need them, ignore the green ones for now. Next, pull the lever and spikes will start to appear in patterns around the area. You need to grab the crank from the left hand chamber and pull the block out of the central one, but apart from that, getting the rest of the chests is optional.
