Godzilla sequel already in development
Monster movie enjoys big opening weekend
Godzilla has enjoyed a huge opening weekend at the US box office, so much so that a sequel is already in development at Legendary.
The film took a staggering $93million in the US alone, representing the second biggest opening of the year behind Captain America: The Winter Soldier .
Unsurprising then that the studio wants to move quickly towards getting a sequel up and running, with President and Chief Creative Officer Jon Jashni confirming to Variety that things are in motion.
“It’s very validating,” said Jashni of the opening weekend. “You can’t ask for a better situation when you have a group of people, who were perhaps expecting to be let down, who were impressed.”
Directed by Gareth Edwards and co-starring Bryan Cranston, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen, Godzilla is in UK cinemas now.
