Gotham City Impostors video shows the cartoony violence happening when Batman's not looking

For those that like their spandex crusaders to take things deadly serious, Batman’s Arkham adventures are the perfect creation. But for those that wish things were a little sillier during their Gotham City exploits and filled with people shooting each other in the face, it looks like 2012’s Gotham City Impostors is the game for you. Just watch this cheery trailer and see if you aren’t left smiling by the manic mayhem.

Developed by Monolith, the team behind FEAR and Condemned, GCI is a team-based, downloadable FPS, pitting teams of wannabe Batmen against collectives of Joker fanboys. Each sidewill have special themed weapons, be they grappling hooks or exploding jack-in-the-boxes. Admittedly it would be nice to see what the actual game looks like as opposed to this CG trailer, but if this is the spirit of the game, at least it looks like it’s not going to be confused with Arkham City any time soon. Hopefully we’ll see some actual gameplay before its launch next year.
