With Kathryn Bigelow set to swap the big screen for an HBO drama this year, it seems the universe needed to balance things out.
Which is perhaps why, in some sort of cosmic exchange, director Michael Sucsy is heading to the big screen for Spyglass Entertainment’s The Vow . See, he directed last year’s Emmy and Golden Golden winning Grey Gardens (below) for none other than HBO.
Variety report that the project is based on the true story of a young woman who suffers amnesia after a car accident. As she attempts to rebuild her identity, her husband struggles to win her heart for a second time.
Banish memories of Adam Sandler’s 50 First Dates , by all accounts this is a straight up drama based on the real events of 1993, when Kim and Krickitt Carpenter were hit by a truck just two months into their marriage.
Sucsy will re-write the script, originally scribbled by Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein, who received a story credit on Valentine’s Day .
Could Sucsy give the rom-dram genre the kick that it needs? On the basis of the excellent Grey Gardens , we certainly hope so.
