Where to find GTA Online Peyote Plants and become an animal
GTA Online Peyote Plants last reappeared for a week in May 2024, but only in underwater locations
GTA Online peyote plants are highly prized flora to discover growing around Los Santos and Blaine County, as they only appear a few times every year for a limited time that often coincides with a special event. They've been made available during the GTA Online Halloween celebrations of 2022, and the Easter event in 2023 that turned everyone into cute bunny rabbits as a nod to the season. Following brief reappearances in November 2023 and early January 2024, the peyote plants in GTA Online came back again in May – though you needed to go swimming in the depths to find those available at the time.
Recent updates
As of May 16, 2024, the GTA Online peyote plants have been removed once again, so if you're looking to take an animal-based trip then you'll need to wait patiently for their next outing.
If you've already has a cactus snack at one of the GTA 5 peyote plant locations during the single-player campaign then you'll know what to expect, but if you're a newcomer then here's what you need to know – the GTA Online peyote plants are chock-full of hallucinogens, and consuming them when available in GTA Online will transform you into a wild animal!
Interestingly, not only can you use that animal's abilities to run amok and hound the innocent NPCs you encounter, but all of the other players in your session can also see you in your animal form and interact accordingly. When I turned into a deer, my reign of terror was only ended when I was knocked down by a fellow player's car, before they finished me off with a drive-by. Read on, and I'll show you where to find all of the GTA Online peyote plants locations, as long as they've been activated for an event.
GTA Online Peyote Plants locations
There are a total of 76 GTA Online peyote plants locations when they're available, spread across San Andreas and the surrounding ocean, which I've marked on the above map – you can click on it to view a larger version. Approach any of the areas shown on the map, and you'll feel your pad start to vibrate while you hear the sound of the animal that the peyote plant will turn you in to.
Follow the vibrations getting stronger until you discover the GTA Online peyote plant, which looks like a small green puck with some white flowers on top. When you're close enough, press right on the d-pad to begin your transformation into animal form. Each creature has its own controls, so pay attention to the tip that appears in the top left corner so you know how to use your capabilities. The hallucination will continue until your animal is killed, or you press right on the d-pad to quit, and you'll receive a considerable chunk of RP at the end. If you've had a notification that they're live in the game then get out there, chomp down those peyote plants, and start causing some mayhem!
