Guillermo del Toro says Mountains Of Madness could still happen
“It’s going to happen one day,” director muses
Guillermo del Toro has given us all a little hope that his defunct HP Lovecraft adaptation At The Mountains Of Madness could still happen one day.
While talking with Movieline , the director revealed that he’s hopeful that he’ll get to helm the adaptation one day.
“I think it's either going to happen one day in the right way, or I really think the worst thing that can happen to a movie like that is for it to get filmed the wrong way,” the director says.
“There are two ways of preserving the greatness of a movie: making it, or not making it. But what you cannot do is make it the wrong way because you needed to make it, that's silly.”
Del Toro had been lining up Madness as his next project, and planned to shoot the film in 3D (with James Cameron's help). But Universal decided not to greenlight the movie because of its hefty budget.
Instead, del Toro is now working on his PG-13 monster movie Pacific Rim , which is due out in 2013.
