Guitar Hero DS won't use touch screen
Portable version won't use touch-screen play, reveals Vicarious Visions
Sept 10, 2007
How will Guitar Hero be played on DS? That's the big question for Vicarious Visions, the developer taking care of the handheld conversion. Contrary to expectations, however, the game won't use the stylus.
Unlike in Ubisoft's guitar simulator Jam Sessions, which has players using the stylus to strum on-screen strings, Guitar Hero DS won't use the touch screen as a primary input at all, revealed design manager, Adrian Earle.
This leads to further speculation that the game may be bundled with a special peripheral to aid the experience. Something considerably smaller than the normal guitars, mind.
Despite the technical limitation, Earle alsosaid that the DS game will remain faithful to the graphical style of the console versions, with full 3D backgrounds. Sounds promising.
