Guy Ritchie in talks for six-film series about King Arthur
Director circling new big franchise
Are you a fan of Arthurian legend? Would you like a six-film franchise based on it? Well, it looks like you’re getting it anyway, and with Guy Ritchie circling the project, no less.
Warner Bros has had plans for a King Arthur movie for many years, with several such projects almost getting made before being dropped at the last minute.
The closest it got to previously releasing such a film was the mooted Arthur & Lancelo t, with Game Of Thrones ’ Kit Harington and new Robocop Joel Kinnaman to play the respective roles, but this got pulled over budget fears.
Now, Deadline reports that the studio are looking to start its own franchise based around King Arthur, with Guy Ritchie in talks to direct the first of six films that will be a fantasy retelling of the legend.
Ritchie had previously been attached to a similar project for Warner Bros in 2010, and now it seems he is interested in the story once more, this time working on a script by Joby Harold (writer-dirctor of 2007’s Awake ).
Ritchie has also just finished shooting on another film for Warner Bros - The Man from U.N.C.L.E. starring Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer
