Guy Ritchies Knights Of The Round Table reveals official synopsis
Following yesterday’s first on-set image, the first official synopsis has now been revealed for Guy Ritchie’s Medieval saga Knights Of The Round Table: King Arthur.
The new film - described as 'a sweeping fantasy action adventure' - will represent a reworking of the classic Camelot tale, with Charlie Hunnam starring as the titular knight who will go on to rule the kingdom.
“The bold new story introduces a streetwise young Arthur,” begins the official blurb, “who runs the back alleys of Londonium with his gang, unaware of the life he was born for until he grasps hold of the sword Excalibur - and with it, his future.”
“Instantly challenged by the power of Excalibur, Arthur is forced to make some hard choices. Throwing in with the Resistance and a mysterious young woman named Guinevere, he must learn to master the sword, face down his demons and unite the people to defeat the tyrant Vortigern, who stole his crown and murdered his parents, and become King.”
Astrid Bergès-Frisbey will co-star as Guinevere, while the aforementioned Vortigern will be played by Jude Law. Eric Bana will round out the supporting cast as Arthur’s father, while Djimon Hounsou will play a Merlin-like figure.
Directed by Ritchie, Knights Of The Round Table: King Arthur will open in the UK and US on 22 July 2016.
