Halo 2: Unstoppable
[Multi] Bungie's combat just won't stop evolving in the popularity stakes
Tuesday 13 June 2006
Halo 2 is still the most popular Xbox Live title, including Xbox 360 games, according to figures released by Microsoft.
For the week beginning 5 June, the top five Xbox Live titles for Xbox 360 start with Call of Duty 2 in slot one, with Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter and The Elder Scrolls IV following. A coincidental list for Xbox was also released, with Halo 2 predictably taking up the top slot, followed by Battlefield 2: Modern Combat and Counter-Strike.
The interesting part? Well, if the two charts were merged, Halo 2 would be in first place with no other Xbox games making the top 10.
In a way, we're not surprised. Halo 2's most enduring strength is its manic multiplayer, there are many more copies of it out there than any 360 game and it's been the best-supported title in terms of backwards compatibility on Xbox 360. Still, though, are we really going to have to wait for Halo 3 to see it toppled from its throne?
The top five Xbox Live games for the week beginning 5 June area as follows:
Xbox 360
1 Call of Duty 2
2 Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter
3 The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
4 Battlefield 2: Modern Combat
5 Final Fantasy XI
