Well, Lucasfilm just dropped one hell of a proton torpedo on us: Lando Calrissian, the only smuggler in the Star Wars galaxy who could hold a candle to our beloved Han Solo, will appear in the spin-off Han Solo movie, and he'll be played by none other than Donald Glover.
"We’re so lucky to have an artist as talented as Donald join us," said co-directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller in a related press release. "These are big shoes to fill, and an even bigger cape, and this one fits him perfectly, which will save us money on alterations. Also, we’d like to publicly apologize to Donald for ruining Comic-Con for him forever."
Glover rose to prominence through web videos and the NBC comedy show Community, but has since cultivated successful careers as a writer, producer, rapper, and actor. He is seriously a perfect fit, and we can't wait.
Directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller and starring Alden Ehrenreich, the Han Solo standalone movie is scheduled to open on May 25, 2018.
