PS5 deals have been taking the shelves by storm over the last week, with Sony’s Days of Play sale slashing prices on the console itself and plenty of games. The vast majority of retailers have kicked the PS5 Slim down from £479.99 to £439 to the event, but Amazon is offering its Prime members an extra special discount.

An extra £40 off the PS5 Slim at checkout means you can grab the latest console for just £394.95 at Amazon right now - that’s a full £85 saving. The previous record-low sat at £409 and that’s a rate we haven’t seen since February. PS5 deals since then have been stuck at this standard £439 position - and that’s when they do appear, this is still a £480 device day to day. Not only is this a brand new record-low price, then, but it’s also a particularly rare one.

If you’re not a Prime member you can either try the service for 30 days free or head on over to EE where you’ll find today’s next best price. EE is also undercutting other retailers, dropping the PS5 Slim down to £415 this weekend.

Save £85 - We’d previously only ever seen the PS5 Slim drop to £409 in the UK, which makes Amazon’s current £394.95 sale price a brand new record-low. You will need to be a Prime member to score the additional £40 off at checkout here, though.

Buy it if:

✅ You’re a PS Plus member
✅ You prefer the DualSense controller

✅ You want to play new-gen games

Don't buy it if:

❌ You prefer Xbox’s Game Pass selection

Should you wait for Prime Day?

Today’s offer comes roughly a month ahead of this year’s Prime Day PS5 deals (assuming Amazon is sticking to its traditional July timeframe) so it’s understandable that some might be wary of buying ahead of the summer sale. However, this is a particularly rare offer - and not one we expect to see repeated too often. Considering the previous record-low hasn’t been seen since February and was only £10 more than today’s rate, it’s clear we’re near the bottom of the PS5 Slim’s price range.

The best possible outcome for Amazon Prime Day would be a repetition of this offer - and that might be a stretch. We could well see the PS5 Slim returning to a similar £394.95 position in July, but it’s incredibly unlikely to go much further than this - especially with the PS5 Slim Digital Edition’s £349 sale price.

I wouldn’t wait for Prime Day if I was in need of a PS5 and saw this offer in the wild. The chance of this rate being beaten next month is incredibly small, and there’s a good chance it won’t even return for Amazon’s sale as well.
