Harrison Ford breaks ankle filming Star Wars: Episode VII
Disney confirms shooting will continue
Star Wars: Episode VII has suffered its first major hiccup during filming, with Harrison Ford having broken his ankle on the set of the forthcoming space sequel.
The injury is said to have been caused by the door of the Millennium Falcon, with THR reporting a clarifying statement from Disney:
"Harrison Ford sustained an ankle injury during filming today on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII ," reads the official announcement. "He was taken to a local hospital and is receiving care."
The studio also went on to confirm that, "shooting will continue as planned while he recuperates," which hopefully won't take too long.
While plot specifics remain few and far between, Ford is thought to play a major part in the new film, with old co-stars Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher also involved in some capacity.
Directed by J.J. Abrams, Star Wars: Episode VII will open the UK on 18 December 2015. Get well soon, Harrison!
