Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft Guide
Secrets
These are spell cards that are played face down and as such not visible to your opponent. They are triggered when certain conditions are met, at which point your opponent can see the card and the spell takes effect. Because of this mechanic, they can only ever be activated on your opponent’s turn.
Hunter Secrets
If you’re on the receiving end of the Hunter's wily secrets, you’ll want to figure out what he has up his sleeve and sharpish. Use an expendable minion to attack one of his subordinates to expose Freezing Trap and Snake Trap, play a weak minion to test for Snipe and attack the Hunter with a minion with a low attack stat to expose Explosive Trap and Misdirection.
Mage Secrets
Ice Barrier
Gain 8 armour as soon as your hero is attacked. Only a physical attack will trigger this.
Spellbender
When an opponent casts a spell on a minion, summon 1/3 minion as the new target. This applies for any spell on any minion, be it a buff or a fireball. The newly summoned minion will act as a lightning rod for the spell.
Roll out the expendable minion brigade again if you’re up against a Mage who’s playing secret cards. Attack the Mage directly with said minion to trigger Vaporize and Ice Barrier. Play a weak minion to test for Mirror Entity and throw out a couple of weak spells to see if they trigger Counterspell and Spellbender or preferably a weak spell that targets a minion to check for both simultaneously.
If you're not getting a bite, then the only remaining secret is Ice Block. But don’t fret--just because they’ll survive lethal damage, that doesn’t mean you can’t serve up a piping hot helping of whoop ass. Be sure to deal out damage that will leave them with a sliver of health and then you can finish them off with very little effort and card expenditure.
Paladin Secrets
Redemption
When one of your minions perishes, resurrect it with 1 health sans any buffs or negative status effects it may have been enjoying (or not) before it popped its clogs.
Line up the weedy underlings once more. It’s time to tease those secrets out. Attack the Paladin with a disposable minion or weak weapon to trigger Eye for an Eye and Noble Sacrifice. Play him at his own game by setting down a minion with 1 health on the board to test for Repentance. Finally, take out the Paladin’s weakest minion on the board to test for Redemption.
