Henry Cavill in line to replace Tom Cruise in The Man From U.N.C.L.E.
In talks to step into newly-vacated role
Warner has moved quickly to replace outgoing star Tom Cruise in The Man From U.N.C.L.E. , with Henry Cavill reportedly in talks to join the production.
Cruise recently dropped out of the project with a view to focusing his attentions upon Mission: Impossible 5 , leaving Armie Hammer without a co-star for the TV adaptation.
However, Warner are thought to be ready to put their trust in Cavill once more, hoping to tap into the star-making potential of the Brit actor’s forthcoming appearance in Man Of Steel .
Having seen the project linger in gestation back when Steven Soderbergh and George Clooney were attached, losing Cruise had proved a significant blow to the studio, but drafting in Cavill as a replacement in such quick time would represent a real boost.
Directed by Guy Ritchie and co-starring Alicia Vikander, The Man From U.N.C.L.E. is expected to begin production later this year. Signing Cavill would go a long way towards ensuring that deadline is hit…
