Metal Gear Solid series creator Hideo Kojima and PS4 lead architect Mark Cerny are taking a road trip. It sounds like the setup for a buddy movie, in which one of these industry leaders inevitably turns to the other to say they’re "too old for this shit," but it's true: the pair will be touring the globe for the next 10 days, seeking out the hottest new technology.
Spending the next ten days with THIS guy... #myfirsttweet pic.twitter.com/1Z1fJOUS2tJanuary 19, 2016
Bound for 10-day trip searching for the newest technology with Mark-san (@cerny ). It will be a world tour! pic.twitter.com/B1XItIS8z4January 19, 2016
Neither of the pair indicates why they're on the hunt for new gadgets and computer sorcery or what they'll do with it (as you can see, the tweets merely state that they're "searching"). Both men will apparently be tweeting about the experience, so we're likely to learn more over the next week and a half.
In the meantime, it wouldn't be unreasonable to assume the trip has something to do with the newly reformed Kojima Productions' partnership with Sony, which stipulates the studio's first game will appear first on the PS4. After all, who better to hang out with when you're making a game for a console than the person who designed it?
Then again, maybe this is just what Kojima and Cerny's ideal spring break is like.
