Summit, the production company currently riding high on the success of the Twilight films, is to resurrect the Highlander franchise, with Fast And Furious director Justin Lin set to call the shots. Iron Man scribes Art Marcum and Matt Holloway have started work on the script.
According to Variety , the reboot will be more than a simple remake of the 1986 film, and will expand on the premise of immortals hunting each other through the ages. However, the article does confirm that “the new pic will centre on the immortal Scottish swordsman Connor MacLeod, who must confront a murderous barbarian who lusts for a fabled prize.”
So far, there here have been five Highlander movies (only one of which was actually any good), two spin-off TV series (only one of which was any good), an animated series and a surprisingly decent on-off anime. And so far none of the MacLeods has ever been played by a Scot.
