House of the Dead: Overkill trailer introduces the explosive lightweight portable crossbow
More bang for your buck
As any good zombie hunter knows, the Crossbow is the ideal weapon to use against zombies. It punches a hole straight into the brain, the ammunition is reusable, and, most importantly, it's quiet. Very quiet. Shoot a gun and every walker between here and Atlanta will start shambling towards you - but the twang of a crossbow bolt is quiet enough to let you take down the undead like a pro. That is, unless you strap an explosive to the bolt, as is the case in this new trailer for the PS3 version of House of the Dead: Overkill - Extended Cut. But, heck, we're not complaining. Bring on the boom!
Blowing up does have its advantages, though. Even though it removes the stealth option, it turns a simple crossbow into a screen-clearing attack. As the video shows, shooting an explosive bolt into a shambling zombie will cause a nice boom that is big enough to take down any enemies, around, no matter how big they are. Well, to a point. Some of the bosses in Overkill are absolutely massive, and we have a feeling it's going to take more than a stick with a grenade stuck to it to take them down.
