Hugh Jackman talks time travel in Days Of Future Past
And hypes film as best X-Men outing to date
Hugh Jackman has been discussing his role in X-Men: Days Of Future Past , particularly the fun Wolverine has when he gets to enter the earlier timeline.
The new film will see Wolverine’s consciousness sent back in time in order to issue a warning to the Fassbender and McAvoy iterations of Magneto and Xavier. However, as Wolverine isn’t Magneto’s biggest fan, it isn’t as straightforward as that…
“It’s fair to say we don’t get on that well,” Jackman told The Daily Beast . “I get sent back to the past and he has no idea who I am, but you can imagine Wolverine has a bit of fun with that.”
As for the film as a whole, Jackman is predictably effusive, describing it as the best installment of the series to date.
“I think some people are saying, ‘Ah, this just sounds like an excuse to get all these actors together and make an Avengers -style movie,’ but the truth is that it’s a great script and Bryan [ Singer ] is very ambitious to make the best movie of them all.
“He’s got the biggest cast, the biggest budget, and he started it all, so it’s his legacy. He’s a fan of time-travel movies, and the detail that’s gone into it is incredible. I’m quietly confident that it will be the biggest and the best of them all.”
Directed by Singer, X-Men: Days Of Future Past will open in the UK on 22 May 2014.
