Hulk was almost in Captain America: Civil War
Captain America: Civil War features plenty of Marvel's heroes, but one character who won't be showing up is Bruce Banner a.k.a. The Hulk. However, according to Civil War co-writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, that wasn't always the case.
"We talked about having Bruce Banner at the very end of the film, and it just, again, seemed like we’re sticking people in just to stick them in", Markus told The Huffington Post. "He has clearly gone somewhere at the end of ‘Ultron,’ and that’s a story. Don’t blow it off and put it in a little tiny chunk just to put in a little extra filigree on our movie. That’s a story."
McFeely also revealed that Evangeline Lilly's Wasp suffered a similar fate; "We have not seen her be a hero at all, so that’s an example of where we think we’d be drinking someone’s milkshake. Let’s let the ‘Ant-Man’ franchise show her come to her full fruition as opposed to just doing it offscreen".
While it's a shame that Hulk and Wasp didn't quite make the cut, it's not all that surprising given the huge amount of characters Civil War is juggling. It does make you wonder just how difficult this challenge is going to get when it comes to Avengers: Infinity War - Part 2...
Directed by Joe Russo and Anthony Russo, and starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey, Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Chadwick Boseman, Tom Holland, Anthony Mackie, and Sebastian Stan, Captain America: Civil War opens in UK cinemas on April 29, 2016 and May 6, 2016 in the US.
