Ian McKellen to catch The Curse Of The Buxom Strumpet
An 18th century zombie movie
Ian McKellen, Judi Dench, Gillian Anderson and Mark Williams have all signed on to period zombie flick The Curse Of The Buxom Strumpet.
Apart from having the coolest title this side of Pride & Prejudice & Zombies , that’s one heck of a cast for essentially a glorified horror movie.
Strumpet is based on director Matthew Butler’s 2010 short movie E’gad Zombies , which also starred Ian McKellen, and followed a 1700s town in England that becomes overrun with zombies.
This new zombie film has been co-written by Tori Hart, and relocates the undead action to a small seaside town, where the residents are “struck down with a deadly illness”.
It’s not difficult to guess what that illness is.
Even if Strumpet is surfing a wave of popular zombie-themed projects currently doing the rounds in Hollywood, it’s a corker of a concept. And McKellen and Dench fighting the ravenous undead? Count us in.
