Maika Monroe joins Independence Day 2
Having starred in one of the breakout hits of the year in the shape of It Follows, Maika Monroe is about to enter the wham-bam world of the summer blockbuster with a role in Independence Day 2.
Director Roland Emmerich confirmed the news via Twitter, posting the following update: “I have another addition to announce. The beautiful & talented Maika Monroe is officially signed on 2 the Independence Day Sequel!”
Monroe is the latest in a string of new additions to the cast, with Liam Hemsworth, Jessie Usher and Charlotte Gainsbourg all recently signing on. No character details have been confirmed for any of them as yet.
They will join returning stars Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Brent Spiner, Vivacia A. Fox and Judd Hirsch, all of whom will reprise their original roles. Directed by Emmerich, Independenece Day 2 will open in the US and UK on 24 June 2016.
