Where many fighting games insert a token story experience, it looks like Injustice 2 dev NetherRealm is going all out. Big-name DC villians and heroes are all set to appear in the studio's follow-up to the 2013 original, and a new story trailer teases us with why: Superman’s arch-nemesis Brainiac.
It's only a taster of what's to come, but I'm excited. NetherRealm has historically done well with the stories told by its games, offering inspiring cutscenes and, you know, plot. Its games aren't like most fighters, shunting you from fight to fight with little to no explanation and the weak justification of a tournament holding it all together.
So yeah, as long as Brainiac isn't hosting a contest to find out who's strongest in the DC universe, count me in.
