Tap Runner is one of two games rescued from Prope's forgotten Wii game, Let's Tap. Although I've always been more of a fan of Rhythm Tap, this humble little racing game is often regarded as the favorite among fans, and it's on the iPhone for two measly bucks.
As with all the Let's Tap games, Tap Runner is controlled simply by tapping the screen with varying degrees of force. Tap softly to run, tap hard to jump. Pretty basic, but it gets the job done. You race in a sidescrolling perspective, timing your taps in order to beat the other racers. It's more difficult than it sounds.
Some of the difficulty is in making sure your iPhone doesn't get confused as to what constitutes a hard or soft tap, but there is some genuine challenge in getting everything timed just right. Add to that a rather cool visual style and this is an interesting little game to have handy in your pocket.
Like all Prope games, it's a nice, casual title that works out rather decently on the iPhone. Plus, as always, you have to give Prope props, just for being ... well, Prope!
