Little armored dudes have been venturing far into dank catacombs and endless dungeons for many years, yet we still haven’t learned that few adventurers ever make it back out alive again. Living to fight another day just isn't in the cards for the wayward hero in 100 Rogues. As with most “rogue-like” RPGs (and to an extent, recent smash hit Infinity Blade) there's no end in sight in this dungeon – just an unending horde of enemies and the lure of a high score. Why then would you want to risk life and limb just to trudge a one-way path towards impending doom? Simple: Satan’s down here somewhere, and you've been instructed by the high council to slay him. Easy-peasy.
The step-by-step, turn-based dungeon crawling flows as you might expect, and you’ll frequently make adventuring pit-stops to loot treasure chests, stab monsters (and robots, and demons, and other weird evil crap), and tackle boss battles. You can play as a fragile, spell-flinging fairy wizard or a clunky armor-clad tank warrior. Both have their own cool unique abilities, skill tree upgrades, and awesome attacks. If you feel like forking over a little extra digital green, there’s a third character class, a badass skeletal warrior, available to play who is also pretty sweet.
In a curious twist, you also have to stay well fed. We’re not talking about the simple quaff a potion to restore health variety of health management. You also have to chomp down meat and other edibles you uncover to keep from starving to death. Getting slain is par for the course, but working to improve your score with each run is where 100 Rogues will pleasantly consume your free time.
