Iron Man writers to pen the Tomb Raider reboot
Want to make Lara the new Ellen Ripley
Iron Man screenwriters Mark Fergus and Hawk Otsby have signed on to pen the Tomb Raider reboot.
And they have ambition. Clearly setting out to give Lara Croft back what little credibility she may have once had, they want to turn her into a bona fide screen heroine to do Ellen Ripley proud.
“We aim to write an origin story for Lara Croft,” they tell Variety , “that solidifies her place alongside Ellen Ripley and Sarah Connor in the pantheon of great female action heroes.”
That’ll be quite a challenge considering Croft’s better known as a voluptuous babe whose curvy video game figure simply cannot exist in nature (though Angelina Jolie came damn close).
Still, the fact that Fergus and Otsby have such lofty ambitions can only be a good thing. We just hope they can fully deliver on their promise of a kick-ass new action heroine.
