Sony has dropped a new trailer online for this summer’s colorful blockbuster Pixels. In the movie, Adam Sandler leads a bunch of noted video game champions who must battle against an alien race that’s opted to use classic arcade characters as its weapons.
This year’s earlier teaser clued us in to which of those iconic avatars would be making appearances - Donkey Kong, PAC-MAN and naturally, Space Invaders. And now we’re shown a little more insight into Sandler’s joystick-savvy crew and their unique approaches to battling pixellated puppets of destruction! Take a peek below:
While there’s a lot of previously-released footage, it never gets old seeing a gigantic PAC-MAN chomping through a skyscraper and generally making everyone terrified. For the most part, the spotlight is on the characters’ strengths in destroying the 8-bit army. Highlight? Kevin James’ President, the man in charge of rallying his former arcade buddies, decimating a Smurf.
Directed by Chris Columbus, and co-starring Peter Dinklage, Josh Gad, Brian Cox and Michelle Monaghan Pixels opens in the US on July 24 and the UK on August 12.
