Jack Black battles his demons in first Goosebumps trailer
Back in the '90s, R.L. Stine's series of children's books introduced a generation of readers to things that go bump in the night. The big screen adaptation of Goosebumps has taken a decidedly meta-twist on those bone-chilling tales, as the first trailer showcases Jack Black in the role of Stine himself.
Instead of plucking its plot from one of Stine's novels, Sony's movie imagines what would happen if his back catalogue of monsters were set free of their binding. The literary creations are unleashed when Zach Cooper (Dylan Minette) moves next door to the popular novelist, befriends his niece Hannah (Odeya Rush) and opens one of Stine's original Goosebumps manuscripts. Catch your first glimpse of the movie in the new trailer, below:
There's no shortage of similarities to Gremlins, Jumanji and even The Monster Squad as the entire town is overrun by Stine's beasties. A lot of Goosebumps fans should have a blast spotting their favorite baddies from the books, alongside Black's stuffy-yet-comical take on the author. Goosebumps arrives in the US on October 16, 2015 and the UK on February 5, 2016.
