Jadoo is a tale of two brothers (Harish Patel, Kulvinder Ghir) – both ace Indian chefs – whose “spicy shitstorm” of a fall-out culminates in them ripping the family recipe book in half: one sibling gets the starters, the other the main courses.

Can Raja’s (Patel) daughter Shalini (Amara Karan) reunite them for her upcoming wedding?

Based on writer/director Amit Gupta’s ( Resistance ) Leicester upbringing, this is steeped in affection and warmth, aiming not for big laughs but a natural, jovial family dynamic.

A pity, then, that it’s let down by some erratic, repetitive plotting.
