Jane Eyre trailer online
Classic comes to life
The first trailer for Cary Fukunaga’s adaptation of Charlotte Brontë’s Jane Eyre has swept rather tempestuously onto the internet.
Starring Mia Wasikowska, Michael Fassbender, Jamie Bell, Sally Hawkins, and Dame Judi Dench, the adaptation looks to be a dark, dramatic affair – in keeping with Brontë’s stormy tome.
The story follows the titular Jane (Wasikowska), who works as a governess for the affluent Edward Rochester. But after years of working under her master’s cold stare, Jane flees, and reflects on a terrible secret that she is harbouring.

Fukunaga’s adap gets points immediately for its trailer using a snippet from Goblin’s haunting Suspiria score, which beefs up the romantic, brooding imagery.
Then there’s Wasikowska and Fassbender, who both seem to completely inhabit their star-crossed lover roles. Everything seems in place, then, for one heck of a period drama.
Jane Eyre is due for release in 2011.
