Javier Bardem negotiating villain role in Pirates Of The Caribbean 5
In line to play ghostly captain
Pirates Of The Caribbean 5 may well have found its chief antagonist, with Javier Bardem reportedly in talks to play Jack Sparrow’s latest enemy.
The Wrap reports that Bardem is currently negotiating with Disney to play the villain of the piece, a ghost captain who blames Sparrow for the death of his beloved brother.
Christoph Waltz had initially been linked to the role, but Disney are thought to have made an offer to the Spanish actor whose wife, Penelope Cruz, appeared in the last instalment in the franchise.
THR also confirms that Geoffrey Rush will be returning as Captain Barbossa, while a female co-lead has yet to be cast, with the character set to face accusations of witchcraft.
Directed by Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg and starring the returning Johnny Depp, Pirates Of The Caribbean 5 will open in the UK on 7 July 2015.
