Jeff Wadlow gives an update on his X-Force script
Mentions Uncanny X-Force as an influence
One of Fox’s many Comic-Con reveals was the confirmation of an X-Force spin-off from the X-Men series, with Kick-Ass 2 director Jeff Wadlow on screenwriting duties.
Wadlow has taken time out to give a brief update on the project, revealing how the script is coming along and hinting at the direction it might take.
“I’m pretty deep into it,” says Wadlow. “I have the whole story completely worked out. I’m about 20 pages into my draft. If I wasn’t promoting Kick-Ass , I would probably have a draft [ completed ], but Kick-Ass is going to slow me down just a little.”
“I love the current run of Uncanny X-Force ,” continues Wadlow. “I love the classic run. Part of my take was addressing this idea that X-Force can be many different things, and that’s what got the studio excited. I think the fans will be excited, too.”
Does that mean Wadlow is thinking of merging the teams from various stages of the comic’s run? It would be one way of introducing some more familiar characters including Deadpool, Nightcrawler and, yes, Wolverine.
We’ll have to wait and see, but what seems certain is that Fox is determined to make the most out of its X-Men rights for many years to come…
