Having struck gold by pairing Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence on Silver Linings Playbook , David O. Russell looks set to repeat the trick on his next directorial outing.
The new film is currently untitled (having previously been known as American Bullshit ), with Lawrence the latest big name to join an already starry cast.
The film is based upon a real-life FBI sting operation named Abscam, in which a Federal con artist set about exposing corruption in Congress during the 1980s.
Lawrence will join Cooper and Christian Bale in the leading roles, and is reportedly set to play Bale’s wife in the movie. Sounds like awards fodder already, doesn’t it?
Co-starring Jeremy Renner, Amy Adams and Louis C.K., production on the film is set to begin later this month, with a release date pencilled in for 2014.
