Jesse Eisenberg signs up for indie dramedy Free Samples
A low-key movie for The Social Network star
Jesse Eisenberg has joined the cast of Free Samples , an indie comedy-drama from director Jay Gammill.
Eisenberg has been impressing for some time now. He made a name for himself playing awkward but loveable losers in the likes of The Squid and the Whale , Zombieland , and Adventureland .
He stepped up his game for David Fincher's The Social Network , bringing vulnerability, loneliness and passive-aggression to the role of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.
Next up, he seems to be slipping back into his comfort zone for Free Samples . Jess Weixler ( Teeth ) is starring in the film, as a former law-school student who becomes an ice-cream dispenser for a food truck. Eisenberg is set to play a lad besotted with Weixler, who turns up for frozen freebies.
It'll be interesting to see how Weixler performs here, as she had an inordinate amount of charm (considering the circumstances) in Teeth , and we can imagine her being a good foil for Eisenberg.
Tippi The Birds Hedren is also part of the defiantly indie cast.
Eisenberg'll next be seen (or rather heard) in animated bird movie Rio , and then it's 30 Minutes or Less , for which he reteams with Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer.
