Star Trek 2 next for JJ Abrams
Blockbuster sequel to follow Super 8
JJ Abrams has confirmed that his next project will be Star Trek 2, following directorial duties on Super 8 .
In an interview with Cinema Blend, Abrams confirmed, “The next thing we’re working on, and hopefully we’ll be able to pass information out sooner or later, is the next Star Trek.”
Paramount has set a release date of 29 June 2012 for the sequel, but when asked if he would be able to hit that, he said, “I care much more that it be good than it be ready.”
As well as confirmation on Star Trek as his next project, Abrams added that he’s not thinking about the film being in 3D.
He said, “I’m not yet considering it, but you know, I haven’t gotten any phone call from people in suits.”
With Super 8 set to be the big draw this summer, hopefully JJ won't have to bow to 3Delirium and can serve up Star Trek 2 his way...
