Joe Carnahan in line to direct Daredevil?
Marvel and Fox discussing co-financing deal
Fox's Daredevil reboot may have moved a step closer to fruition with reports claiming that Joe Carnahan is in line to occupy the director's chair on the project. However, there are some complications…
The main issue with Daredevil is that Fox would need to get the film up and running by October before the rights to the character revert to Marvel once more. That would seem like quite a stretch for a film that doesn't even have a director in place at this stage.
However, Marvel have been thought to be interested in a spot of horse-trading, with the studio reportedly willing to extend the rights agreement for Daredevil in exchange for the use of Fantastic Four (another Fox property) villain Galactus in a film of their own.
Intriguing stuff, although Deadline asserts that such an agreement would not suit Fox, particularly given the high hopes they have for their Josh Trank-directed reboot of Fantastic Four . Instead, they believe Fox and Marvel could strike a co-financing agreement to ensure that Daredevil makes it onto the big screen once more.
In any case, Carnahan is currently the frontrunner to direct, although given that he's thought to be Fox's choice rather than Marvel's, there could be a few more names bandied about before the deal is done…
