Joel Edgerton terrorises Jason Bateman and Rebecca Hall in first trailer for The Gift: watch now
The first trailer has arrived online for Joel Edgerton’s directorial debut, The Gift, in which Jason Bateman and Rebecca are a happily married couple setting out on a new life together in a new home. Exciting times for them then, until an old high-school chum of Bateman’s suddenly emerges from the woodwork.
“Gordo” is played by Edgerton himself, and starts creeping the couple out by leaving unsolicited gifts on their doorstep and frequently showing up unannounced. However, that’s only the beginning, as it soon transpires that Gordo is nursing quite the grudge from his high school days…
Take a look at the new trailer, below…
If the story beats look pretty familiar, the cast is the real draw here, with Edgerton in particular looking to have created a suitably unnerving villain. If only people had been a little nicer to Gordo back in high school, all this could have been avoided…
Co-starring Beau Knapp, P.J. Byrne and Tim Griffin, The Gift will open in the US on 31 July 2015, with a UK date to be confirmed.
