Joel Kinnaman discusses uncomfortable RoboCop suit
Exclusive: “I felt awkward and embarrassed”
In issue 214 of Total Film magazine , we chat with the new RoboCop himself, aka The Killing 's Joel Kinnaman.
Inside the issue - which is available for just £1.99 on your iPad , Kinnaman reveals that stepping into the shoes (and armour) of former RoboCop Peter Weller was even more difficult than we'd imagined.
“It was very uncomfortable," the Swedish-American star says of RoboCop's new body armour, designed by Oscar-nominated costume designer April Ferry.
"I'm not wearing much under the suit... you feel naked. Also, when the cameras weren't rolling, I [ felt ] awkward and embarrassed. It was hard to move my head and everything was making my back ache. I used that awkwardness because that's what Murphy would've felt, times a thousand."
Set in 2028, RoboCop follows copper Alex Murphy (Kinnaman), who's injured doing his job and transformed into a bionic police officer with a suit to make even Iron Man jealous.
RoboCop o pens in the UK on 7 February 2014.
