John C. Reilly offered a role in Guardians Of The Galaxy
While Hugh Laurie, Ken Watanabe and Alan Rickman are also on Marvel’s wish-list
Guardians Of The Galaxy looks set to add some comedy firepower to its growing ensemble, with HitFix reporting that John C. Reilly has been offered a role in the fantasy spectacular.
Our initial thought was that Reilly would have been tapped for either Groot the talking tree, or anthropomorphised critter Rocket Raccoon, but apparently the role he has been offered is another altogether.
Marvel wants Reilly to play a character named Rhomman Dey, the defeated leader of the Nova Corps on planet Xandar. Word has it that the movie version will alter the character to see him act as a point of human contact for the rest of the Guardians.
Should Reilly take the role, he’ll also be joined by a sidekick, with Marvel reportedly eyeing Hugh Laurie, Alan Rickman and Ken Watanabe as potential options to fill that vacancy.
Directed by James Gunn and co-starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana and Michael Rooker, Guardians Of The Galaxy will open in the UK on 1 August 2014.
