John Cusack stars in first image from Stephen Kings Cell
The first image has appeared online for Cell, Tod Williams’ adaptation of Stephen King’s acclaimed techno-horror, in which a rogue mobile phone signal turns the US population into rage-filled lunatics.
John Cusack heads up the film as comic-book illustrator, Clay Riddell, one of a small band of survivors mysteriously unaffected by the signal, who is desperate to track down his wife and child.
He’ll be joined in his quest by Samuel L. Jackson and Isabelle Fuhrman, both of whom can be seen in this first image bracing themselves against a distinctly apocalyptic backdrop.
No sign of any of the bloodthirsty “phoners” as yet, although we’d expect to see them teased as more promotional material continues to emerge over the coming weeks and months.
Directed by Williams and co-starring Stacy Keach, Cell is expected to open in the UK and US later this year, with a specific release date yet to be confirmed.
