John Wick 2 to begin filming this fall

Fans of Keanu Reeves-based badassery are about to have something to celebrate with the news that John Wick 2 is set to begin filming this fall. It had previously been rumoured that a sequel was on the cards, and now Thunder Road has confirmed that cameras will roll on the project within the next couple of months.

In case you missed the original, it saw Reeves star as a retired hitman forced to return to a life of violence by Alfie Allen and his thuggish associates. An OTT guilty pleasure, it ended up taking $78 million at the global box office, representing a serious return on its $20 million budget. Reeves will be back for the sequel, as will co-directors David Leitch and Chad Stahelski, alongside screenwriter Derek Kolstad.

"With such tremendous fan and critical support for John Wick, we knew that there was still so much more of this story to tell," said a Lionsgate spokesman earlier this year. "We are thrilled that Keanu, David and Chad have re-teamed with us and promise to bring audiences even more excitement the second time around." No release date has been confirmed as yet, with John Wick 2 expected to arrive in cinemas in 2016.
