Joss Whedon says Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are key to The Avengers 2
Describes them as “a huge part of the movie”
Ever since it emerged that the character of Quicksilver had been cast in both The Avengers 2 and X-Men: Days Of Future Past , speculation has been rife about how the super-fast mutant would fit into two very different franchises.
Joss Whedon was first out of the blocks to announce Quicksilver as one of his new characters, alongside his sister Scarlet Witch, and the director maintains that the two characters remain integral to his plans.
“It’s a huge part of the movie,” said Whedon, when asked about how Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver fit into his story. "I’m really excited about it and I don’t know what they’re doing [on X-Men ].”
“I’m determinedly not knowing,” he continues. “They’ll do their thing, I have to do mine.”
While Evan Peters has been cast in Bryan Singer’s film, The Avengers 2 has yet to confirm any new names, although Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Saoirse Ronan have been strongly linked.
X-Men: Days Of Future Past will open in the UK on 23 May 2014, with The Avengers 2 following on 1 May 2015.
