Judi Dench to play Mon Mothma in Episode VII?

Big Shiny Robot claim to have heard from a source that the legendary British actress and former Bond star is set to play the rebel leader seen co-ordinating the attack on the second Death Star in Return Of The Jedi .

The news, while it has to be taken with a huge vat of salt and filed under ‘Possibly Not’ along with a hundred other casting rumours, still fits in with a recent tease from El Mayimbe of Latino Review :

The chances are, obviously, that this is still speculation at this stage, or in fact that Dench has been linked to the role but hasn’t signed on for it (yet).

But it makes sense that Episode VII is filled out with more existing Star Wars characters than just the central gang, so who knows? M may become Mon Mothma after all.
