Jurassic World 2 has finally found its director: J.A. Bayona
Few would have predicted Jurassic World's massive success at the box office, but a sequel was never in doubt. While Colin Trevorrow helmed the 2015 hit, Universal have confirmed that Juan Antonia Bayona will call the shots on Jurassic World 2. Check out the tweets from Trevorrow, producer Frank Marshall, and Bayona himself below...
Proud to collaborate with one of my favorite filmmakers on the next Jurassic adventure. JA Bayona, it's all yours.April 18, 2016
Thrilled to announce JA Bayona is on board to direct JW2. Welcome to the team @FilmBayona!April 18, 2016

Bayona has been linked to the Jurassic World 2 for a while, so this news doesn't come as too much of a surprise. While I haven't seen much of his work, the trailers for A Monster Calls (which he is directing) have been great thus far.
Trevorrow and Derek Connolly will return to script the sequel, and while story details are scarce at this point there's a good chance we might get some hints for Jurassic World 3. Lest we forget, Trevorrow and Steven Spielberg have had a trilogy planned from the beginning.
Directed by J.A. Bayona and starring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, Jurassic World 2 is currently scheduled for a June 22, 2018 release.
