Kameo delayed yet again
Rare's epic Xbox adventure is further postponed "in order to incorporate several new features"
The release of Kameo: Elements of Power - Rare's epic Xbox adventure, which was originally due out in the spring - has been delayed yet again. And this time it's been postponed indefinitely.
While the last official release window was January 2005, Rare have just revealed that the game will be spending yet more time in development hell. A statement from the Brit developers reads, "After a lot of thought and discussion, Rare and Microsoft Game Studios have decided to push back the launch of Kameo: Elements of Power in order to incorporate several changes and new features (some minor, some not so minor).
"We realise this is frustrating in the short term to all those of you avidly following the game's progress and itching to bust some Troll heads and we can only apologise for keeping you in suspense. But rest assured that every last one of these new developments is designed to enhance and expand the overall experience. We want this to be the best game possible, so like any delays we may have instigated in the past (surely not) we have every confidence that this one will ultimately work out for the best."
Since Microsoft bought Rare at the end of 2002 for a whopping $375 million, the only Xbox title they've released has been the overly cutesy - and commercially unsuccessful - Grabbed by the Ghoulies. Rare's next releases will actually be It's Mr Pants - a simple puzzler that stars Rare's eponymous cameo character - and Banjo Kazooie: Pilot, both of which will be published by THQ for GBA early next year.
