Keanu Reeves officially returning for John Wick sequel
Bad guys beware, Keanu Reeves will be tooling up as John Wick for a second time with Lionsgate confirming that a sequel to the low-budget action film has officially received the green light. Made on a production budget of around $20 million, the first film has made nearly $80 million worldwide, more than enough of a return to convince the studio to spring for a second round. The international rights to the sequel are expected to be sold at Cannes this week.
Reeves is officially confirmed to return, as are co-directors David Leitch and Chad Stahleski and screenwriter Derek Kolstad. Plot details are non-existent at present, although Leitch and Stahleski have already been exploring some potential avenues…
"We have ideas for days and without blinking twice we know we can outdo the action from the original,” Stahelski said, back in February. “It’s the matter of story and how much you like the character. That’s always the most important. If there’s great action but you have a character that no one likes and doesn’t have charisma you’re not going to watch it."
